Geo-tourism & Geo-environment
Recently, the department had been actively involved in geo-tourism and geo-environmental studies and formalution of projects and preservation geological moments in Naga Hills Ophiolite like Pillow lavas at Satuza and Laluri, Mimi Limestone caves, Lacham tectonic lake view points, etc. Besides the department had also upgraded its museum where all types of economic minerals and rocks found in Nagaland are displayed for public and scholars alike.
The department had also studied the environmental impact of coal mining in Changki valley, also undertook project on Climatic Change in the state of Nagaland.
