Research & Development

The department has carried out few R & D works in collaboration with agencies like North East Institute of Science & Technology (CSIR-NEIST) Jorhat, Central Mine Planning Design Institute (CMPDIL) Ranchi and National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML), Jamshedpur for adoption of state of art technology in production and beneficiation of the mineral resources of the state. The R&D works so far carried out by the department in collaboration with the outside agencies are as follows:

  1. Mini Model Coal Mine at Merakiyong, Mokokchung district (CMPDIL-Ranchi)
  1. Manufacture of Coal Briquettes from Nagaland coal. (NEIST-Jorhat)
  1. Pre-Feasibility studies on manufacture of Coke-Breeze from Konya coal, Tuensang district. (NEIST-Jorhat)
  1. Utilization of Nagaland coals for Thermal Power Plant based on Fluidized Bed Combustion (FCB) technology. (NEIST-Jorhat)
  1. Pilot scale smelting and Pre-Feasibility studies on Nickel-Chromium-Cobal bearing Magnetite ores from Nagaland. (CSIR-NML-Jamshedpur)
